The Dentzel Menagerie Carousel, one of the most historic treasures in Burlington was built around 1910 by the Dentzel Family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary at this year’s event. Each year the city comes together to celebrate the Carousel by hosting the Annual Carousel Festival. Artists Alley, an area where fine artists and craft exhibitors display and exhibit their work features original Carousel wood carvers as well as paintings and much more. The Children's area offers families the opportunity to take a ride on the Carousel or one of the other amusement activities that are permanently located in the park. The fun will begin with a special pet parade around the dog park. The theme for the event is “Patriotic Pooches” and there will be scores dressed in the ever-popular red, white and blue.
One of the highlights of the day will be the Responsible Dog Ownership Program presented by Rin Tin Tin, the world’s most famous German Shepherd Dog. The program will appeal to youth as well as adults and includes information helpful to anyone who might come in contact with a dog. In addition, those attending will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Rin Tin Tin with the proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of Alamance County.
