The City of Burlington is preparing an application for a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hazard mitigation grant. If you, or someone you know, meet the requirements outlined in the document that is linked below, please make sure to contact the City of Burlington Engineering Department at 336.222.5050 and ask for a Property Qualification Form. The deadline for submission of Property Qualification Form is April 25. This is a great opportunity for qualifying flood-prone properties in Burlington.

Do you know an energetic, always on the go, loves to socialize senior? Then spread the word! Coming this spring is the 2017 Alamance/Burlington Senior Games. This program is offered to all Alamance County adults’ ages 50 years and above. First, second, and third place winners in sanctioned events are eligible to compete in the North Carolina Senior Games held in the fall. SilverArts, a component of Senior Games provides a stage for the creative talents of the visual, heritage, literary, and performing artists at the Paramount Theater. Remember March 2nd is the last day to turn in Senior Games registration forms. The Alamance County, Burlington, and Graham Recreation & Parks Departments, Alamance County Community YMCA, the Alamance County Arts Council and Burlington Senior Adult Leisure Services, produce this event. Join us for this year’s Magical Garden Special Populations Prom! The annual event is a perfect time to get dressed up and have a blast on the dance floor! Join us for music, food and fun. Decorations will be provided by the Alamance County Arts Council. Photos will be taken by York Studios for $10.

The Reel 2 Reel Student Film Festival encourages teens and young adults to make short films about issues that affect them in today's society. Other genres such as horror, drama, comedy, documentary, etc. will also be considered. The festival will feature a minimum of 10 adjudicated student films in the categories of middle school, high school, and college level. Films must be fully completed at the time of submission and should not exceed 7 minutes in length. Groups and/or classes are welcome to apply. Check out T2T on their website and Facebook.

Burlington Recreation and Parks and Shade-Tree Thumpers Truck Club present the North Park Car Show. Come out for food, vendors, and entertainment! If you have a hot ride, you will want to be a part of this event. There will be several categories to take part in for trophies. $15 early registration fee, $20 day of the show; must be 18 years of age to enter vehicle in show. Have fun at our family-friendly trivia night with questions all related to movies! There will be four trivia rounds from pictures to music to question your movie knowledge. There will be winners all night long as well as our family dinner special of four slices of pizza and four drinks for an additional $8. Teen 2 Teen members will be present throughout the evening for a raffle and any questions you may have about getting involved in the Teen 2 Teen program.
