Come help spruce up the trails at Town & Country Park - a little treasure tucked away along the banks of the Haw River in Burlington. Help remove debris from the trail, rake leaves, improve trail tread, cut back branches, and pick up trash.
Wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and dress in layers for the weather. Bring a water bottle, snack and a pair of work gloves if you have them. Tools will be provided, but if you have a favorite tool (rake, lopper, pruning shears) bring them along. Youth under 18, must be accompanied by an adult.
Register so we know to expect you and if we need to reach you in the event of a weather cancellation.
January 27, 2018, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM @ Guilford Mackintosh Park & Marina
Grab a friend and get out for a walkabout in the woods at a local hiking hot spot. The hike is about 3 miles on natural surface trail over rolling terrain. Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots. Bring a water bottle and an extra layer. Trekking poles recommended. All ages welcome, but under 16 must be accompanied by an adult/ Dogs welcome! Hike starts at 2:30 so arrive a few minutes before.

This class has prerequisites.
Class participants must be able to:
* Swim 300 yards without stopping.
* Tread water for 2 minutes with hands out of the water.
* In under 1 minute and 40 seconds, lifeguard candidates must be able to swim 25 yards and surface dive to a 13ft depth, retrieve a 10lb brick, hold it with both hands while swimming it back 25 yards, and get out of the pool.
Additional competencies require good communication, teamwork, listening, and a can-do attitude.

For ages 55 and older. Matter of Balance is designed to manage concerns of falling through balancing and strengthening exercises. Includes discussions and education to help prevent falls. This 8-week class meets every Thursday. Snacks are provided. Provided free of charge from Title III funding administered by the PTRC.

For ages 55 and older. Celebrate the New Year! Chinese food will be served. Call to register by January 20. If you need to cancel, call before the event.

1st and 2nd place winners will be selected by local chili experts for cash prizes ($100 Champion & $75 Runner up). Registration is required for this event and must be completed online by January 24th. Contest is limited to 30 participants so register NOW!
